Kenai River Festival Weekend

It was a whirlwind of sewing, visiting, setting up, taking down, enjoying the fresh air and making new friends.

The Kenai River Festival was this past weekend and it was a festival full of good food, live music, artist vendors and more! I had a wonderful weekend of awesome networking, sales, and lots of laughter and fun!

This was my first show/festival that I have really done a whole weekend of setting up and taking down. It was a whole lot of fun and learned a lot. I don’t know if I will be doing another one for awhile as it consumes my whole weekend and weekends are my rest time since I have a full time job. Maybe after a good nights rest and a weekend of relaxing I might be ready to rock and roll.

I have two diva frame wallets ready for new homes and I will share the details on the Items for sale page and I will update what I have left of the qaspeqs for sale. I finally set up my square so I am set to take credit/debit cards.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend! And hope you have a good week ahead of you!

Sew. Sew. Sew.

Allย I do is sew. sew. sew.

No matter what. what. what.

I forgot to mention head over to my Sew Yup’ik facebook page for a 241 tote bag giveaway!

I have been living NON-stop on my sewing machine trying to bust out as many qaspeqs, bags, cup cozies, fish bags, and key fobs as quickly as I can!

The Kenai River Festival starts tomorrow and is all weekend long of music, food, beer garden, craft booths and much more!

And trying to gather spruce tips because it is almost too late to pick them. This evening I am going to try and make cottonwood salve with the help of some awesome ladies.

I will share the process and photos!

Happy Thursday!

I hope you are having a wonderful day!

You are loved!

You are awesome!

And keep on keeping on!

Its been a busy December

Lets just say it was a busy busy December with sewing, sewing and more sewing!

Because homemade gifts are the best it was a busy sewing month. Frozen quilts. Christmas qaspeq vests. And just call me the crazy bag lady it was a busy month of bag making.

I have decided to move forward and start my own sewing business. Coming up with the business name was tough but I nailed it down to Sew Yup’ik.

I have somewhat become addicted to sewing…. Its been a busy few months for me on the sewing machine, in the office, and at home dealing with home life.

My mother never fails to pop into my life when I least expect it, and when I welcome it the least. She has the worst timing. She manages to step into my life and stomp me further into the ground. Her drunken voice boils my blood. Her laughter makes me want to strangle her soul. Its amazing what one phone call can do to my well being. It brings me back to a damn spiral of anger and disgust. And in the moments what I wouldnt do to hurt her with all my might. But then I realize shes nothing to me. Shes been dead to me for years and I just need to let it go like a dead fly. Moments like those rotten phone calls remind me that I will never heal until she has left this earth for good.

Until then I just keep on kicking. Keep on breathing. Keep on moving.

And so the madness begins

A few weeks ago I decided to go all in and try a new product to increase my energy, motivation, and muscle mass.

I usually dont go for products, and try to do it the old fashion way. BUT. Its been too long. Ive been tired, and fatigued daily. SO. I did the jump and decided to try this new product Isagenix.

Now I know your probably thinking its another one of those diet weight loss products that dont give any results, and like throwing money down the drain. BUT let me tell you.

Its day 1. I started my morning off with an Isalean Pro shake with peanut butter, and yogurt and some morning supplements. Now let me tell you that I have the toughest time taking pills so I struggled sucking down the morning supplements but I did it. I didnt need a cup of coffee till about 9:30 am which is unusual for me considering if I dont have my first cup at 7:30 the pounding starts and does not stop. I stayed about full until 2 pm which is another amazing thing. Usually I need to eat about every 3-4 hours since my metabolism is crazy fast. Afternoon snack was a 6 inch subway sandwich. Thank goodness I was off work at 3:45, and hit the gym at 4:45 pm.

Before my workout I popped one of the Energy e+ shots and immediately had a burst of energy! My workout consisted of 25 minutes on the treadmill, and lunges, and lunge kicks with 25 pound weights, and dumbbell curls with 25 lb weights.

And THEN as I got home another burst of energy came out which is crazy! I usually never have this much energy after work. I would have to think that maybe this Isagenix is starting to work its magic. A replishment shake, and Ionix supreme powder were replacement drinks after the workout.

Dinner consisted of baked salmon, corn, and lentils with rice. Overall I would say day 1 has gone fairly smooth besides the hiccups in the morning. I definately feel that my energy levels after work were much higher than any other day.

I am trying out this product to increase my energy levels, motivation, and to try build a little mass. I am not overweight but I am ready to make some life changes.

Here are my before photos I am hoping in the 30 days I will lose the love handles, and build muscle mass ๐Ÿ™‚

My creations in a nutshell

With the help of my good friend we were able to bust out this quilt in 16 hours for my aunt and uncles 50th anniversary.

As a quilter, sewer, creator I am discovering that I love to make new things. I love to play around and make new creations. Everything I make I have taken a class, pinterested, or just accidently created it. Its a fun process and I learn something new every time I am creating things. I want to eventually make my own clothes, once I am skilled enough. On my Christmas list is a serger. I think I am ready to tackle that fear of using a serger and start expanding my sewing skills.

I took a class and was able to bust out these 2 qaspeqs with bags from left over fabric.
This is the first apron that I ever made. I just copied the pattern from an apron that was given to me.

-44 degrees makes me :(

This morning we woke up to -44 degrees with the wind chill, and boy I tell it was cold, cold, cold! On days when its so cold, those are the hardest to get out of bed. We heat our house mainly with the wood stove, and keep the thermo down to 68 degrees, which is beyond freezing for me! But you just gotta keep chugging along! The juice train has slowed down to once maybe if we are lucky twice a day. This morning I made a quick berry & banana smoothie which was delish!

Classes are keeping me busy, and on my toes, as well as work. I have been sewing like a maniac and heres my progress soo far!

Make-up bags. You can see the bag on the right was my first back into working with zippers :D

As you can see I would rather be sewing, sewing away than homework! But my goals have been to do as much homework in one sitting so I can sew away!

To kick my butt back in gear I have been getting or TRYING to get back in the gym every other day! I need to start training my butt into Portland 1/2 marathon shape! In high school I ran cross-country and the fastest 5k I ran was 19:28 today I ran it in 26:58. Thats not too bad considering what it was before! I am making progress each week and I am loving every minute of it!

Yum!
Yum!

Onto the juice train! I made a delish juice this evening and am sipping away as I type. I have managed to eat healthy, try to maintain a good work out plan, and juice which has kept me at 130 lbs.

Since my work is nuts and doesnt allow any youtube videos to be watched, or any videos for that matter I must get ย working on this damn homework! Have a great evening!
